art shows│WAVES Art Showcase Dallas, TX (post IV)

 14 pieces to hang.

art shows│WAVES Art Showcase Dallas, TX (post III)

You arrive at the venue for the first time in your life. No, any walk-in or any precise instructions on setting up before arrival. You have 10 minutes left from the remaining time because you went through a sleepless night and couldn't wake up on time.  There are 14 pieces to hang on the 10"X10" wall space. You get a hammer and nails. After a few seconds you realize that the wall is not an easy soft wood at all...  Thank God, they have a drill machine which you have never used before in your life. Yeah, the only thing left to do is just starting crying, unless you have someone by your side for help. Yes, I did have someone with me. Phew!

Don't look at me!
I had a horrible sleepless night, but all is set up!

Women Texas Film Festival│August 19-21 2016 Texas Theatre Dallas, TX (post II)

One of the warmest and most stylish movie theaters I've seen so far in the U.S.

The most intense and meaningful to me was "Piece of Naan" directed by Rijaa Nadeem.

"The “Youth” shorts program, many of which were directed by local up-and-coming female filmmakers, features films that deal with the conflicts and hurdles ever-present in the lives of young women, be it dealing with an unwanted pregnancy, escaping poverty, getting out of a day at work in order to head out to the beach, navigating the dating world, or being a transvestite in the unforgiving religious culture in Pakistan."

India 2016 "Royal Rajasthan"│Bishnoi Village Safari: encounter with sheep (post II)

March 9th, 2016
Rajasthan, India

He appeared just a few seconds after we stopped the vehicle, and approached the flock of sheep. Of course, to me they seemed lonely creatures, but in fact they belonged to someone. When I saw this young Indian man, I was almost as much astonished as seeing those animals in the middle of nowhere. Oh, he was lovely! He helped us to catch a sheep, so I can take pictures. He even let me take pictures of himself holding a sheep. I thought Indian people were so kind and capable of good deeds, but I was so wrong at that time. When I was leaving, he followed me to the car, and I can't tell you how he made me feel when I heard from his mouth: "500 rupees!" Well, it wasn't the first day of my stay in India, and even though I was a bit confused about Indian people asking me for money absolutely everywhere (I don't mean beggars here), he was the one who added fuel to the fire. I cursed in my mother tongue: "Fucking money-grubbing Indians!" I will never change my mind in this matter. Yes, they are.

"Bishnoi area comes under the city of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Bishnoi area is a wonderland where wild animals walk past village huts; where the villagers prefer to sleep without food so that the animals are fed and are ready to die to save the trees and nature. Bishnoi carpenters never cut trees. They wait for trees to die on their own or fall down during storms. The varied species in Bishnoi villages include black bucks, antelopes, chinkaras, peacocks and even cranes. The black buck is also a much-worshipped animal among the Bishnoi tribes who inhabit the area. Bishnois follow world's only environmental religion."

Suddenly, I saw a flock of sheep in the middle of nowhere. Some were in the field looking hopelessly for food in the dry soil, others crossing the street. I asked the driver to stop the vehicle, and run to caress them. They seemed so sweet to me. I could kiss them all, but the closer I was approaching, the further they were going away from me.What a pity! Anyway, this is one of my sweetest memories from India.

art shows│"Don't Call Me Baby" Fort Worth, TX (post III)

I took an appointment for installing my works today, August 11 at 8 PM. I arrived 15 minutes late, but no one was mad at me. You know, I like very much people I've had a pleasure to collaborate so far as my art exhibitions or shows are concerned. You meet them for the first time, and you have a feeling that everyone is so kind and nice to you. I haven't experienced it earlier in my previous life I used to have. Well, it was completely different world...
Anyway, it was a great pleasure to meet you, Sarah.

Today's preparations took me definitely too long.I am not sure whether there was too much work or I was too slow. One thing is sure though: I was lazy to brush my hair...

gym selfie│August 9, 2016

It's not something I practice regularly, but sometimes I also do take such selfies. I like most when I am all wet and tired. The after training pain in legs and buttocks is my favourite.

New Texas Talent XXIII│Opening Reception August 6, 2016 Dallas, TX (post IV)

I have never thought I would need to discuss my works. I have never thought I would need to answer questions about them, but this is what happens. And believe me, it enriches my life. I grow thanks to my audience in so many positive ways.

New Texas Talent XXIII│Opening Reception August 6, 2016 Dallas, TX (post III)

Experiencing fully art requires undoubtedly our sacrifice of time. If the average time viewers spend looking at a work of art is roughly two seconds, then mine was definitely the exception of the rule. It was actually the first thing that struck my eyes when I arrived at the Opening Reception. I was astonished how much time the viewers were willing to devote to that encounter with my piece, how much they wanted to experience of it. Yes, it was definitely a respectful contemplation. I was curious what thoughts they could possibly have, but did not want to interrupt them; I never want to be intrusive. I was behind contemplating the viewers of my work.

It's a huge modern gallery space. Once you enter and go just straight, you won't miss my piece. It's the first one on the wall. Many many thanks for such a prominent display!!!
